Actually, I have a lot more shelf space than I realized, thanks to my thirty-six linear feet of built-in bookshelves. That's a very good thing, because those shelves are the closest I have to a pantry. (My apartment, I've noticed, has plenty of storage space in theory, but the distribution isn't exactly optimal.)
Are there any good authors whose last names start with "E"?

Huh. Wonder what happened to my copy of Invisible Man. I haven't read it since high school.

We have: Umberto Eco, Clyde Edgerton, Dave Eggers, and Harlan Ellison.

Jeffrey Eugenides, Warren Ellis, and many would say George Eliot, though others would vehemently decry this. I haven't read any of her stuff, though my sister is diligently reading Middlemarch for Seminar even as I type this. She seems to like it all right.

Many of these are authors I really ought to have on my bookshelf. Certainly Ellison and Ellis, at the least. (There's some Ellison in a short story compilation or two.) Also, Middlesex was a very good book.

With have the other Ellison and Eliot, too. Also T.S. But they are on the non-fiction/poetry/Program shelves in the other room.

Also, I realized later that my mother would say Janet Evanovich. We had one of hers on our shelf until a few days ago when Moss's mother borrowed it. I personally really like having a section for graphic novels.

I'm also missing Q, X, and Z, at least in fiction, but it was the absence of Es that really suprised me. You'd think there'd be more E last names out there.
