The three primary characters in And the Geek Shall Inherit the Earth—the only three characters, if you don't include pseudonyms and figments of Nic's imagination—all first met at Montrose College, and formed an interesting series of triangles around each other there. It's this complicated trinary relationship that forms the substrate for the events of And the Geek Shall Inherit. This, then, can be seen as a prequel; the three-part story about what really went on between the three of them at Montrose—or, at least, what they think really went on between them.
